building a 460

Hey guys,

I got a hold of an old 460 big block from a truck but it runs real rough. It definitely needs to be rebuilt. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for a good street/ strip combo? Heads, cam, etc.. just shopping around at this point but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The motor is going in a 89 Mustang GT.. thanks guys!

A big block ford makes for an interesting car, but are you set on it? You can get similar power out of a small block while saving weight. If you really want to do it.....go for it and have something unique. Parts are a bit more expensive and a good set of aftermarket (or cobra jet) heads are a must for decent power. What are your intention? Are you going to make it a street thumper or an all out race engine?
