Well Ive decided to build a new engine this summer.

Im pretty confident I can do just about everything except putting the new motor in the car.

Im thinking about doing this:
-331 Shortblock (brand???)
-AFR 185's
-24lb injectors
-Trick Flow Intake
-Custom grind cam

Im asuming that prebuilt shortblocks come balanced?...

And if anyone can point me to a good place to buy a shortblock?
Ive heard DSS isnt that great anymore...

Thanks.

Ive done it on a few other cars (non ford)

But for 1 I dont have a lift or even the space for a lift...and 2 Id rather have it installed at the shop I go to. Just cuz they do this often and I want them to break it in/tune it. So by having them do it I dont have to drive it to the shop and get it tuned...

I guess its just good insurance for me.

Anything I should know about putting a motor together? lol
How about the other questions I had?

Thanks

it should be fairly strait foward if you have a book or a manual of some sort handy. a friend or family member with experience will be nice to guide you through and some members on here will gladly answer any ?'s you have (not give out secrets lol). I think it's an awsome feeling when you do something to that extent and have a good end result and you light the tires up for the first time. Good luck on your build

Thanks.
My dad really doesnt know anything about cars and you should have seen his reaction when I said I was going to build a motor...

He was like "What?!?! You can do that???" lol

I was thinking about ordering a CHP shortblock.
Looks like it would be just over $2k for the shortblock...

Maybe a 331 is too much?

Im trying to get 350hp NA, so maybe a 306 would be better/cheaper?

dude go with a 347 stroker shortblock from CHP!!!! Thats what i'm building over the summer time, with AFR's or Edelbrock Performer heads. and TF street manifold!!

should be arond 400 HP!!!!! shweeeeeet

Good Luck!!!!
