built rear, harder to break tires loose!

since iv gotten the axles posi and 373's installed it almost seems harder to break the tires loose. let me explain. on the strait away it seems to break them loose easier, but around turns it's the other way around. there seems to be more traction there. before the tail end would just get swirly very easy, now it seems i have to try

is this because of the trac loc? because both wheels have to be broke loose and they are spinning the same time and rate of speed?

is this normal behavior for trac loc to have better traction around turns?

gts already have trac-lok factory, it shouldnt have made any difference in traction unless yours was already really worn out.

generally, its harder to control a car in a corner when posi does its job and spins both rears. much higher tendency to whip around.. v6's pegleg rears are super-easy to control when theyre spinning like crazy.

i dont know how different the eaton carrier is compared to stock, but as long as the car isnt any slower with the grip, why question better traction.


one thing to check, make sure your traction control or abs isnt acting up after the new axles. the sensors may be screwed up and pulling timing or pulsing the brakes.

yea the gts come with trac loc, but it but it must be the worst. mine wan not worn out at all, i have about 10k miles on the car.

but it was easy to control as it was spinning around the turns stock. it would just fishtail to the left then to the right and catch.

now if i stomp it around a turn it will slide a bit, but not really fishtail. it will just catch and go.

my traction control is turnd off with the diablo chip.

Didn't you do the rearend and the HC swap at the same time? If so could it be that it moved the torque curve up in the RPM's thereby making it appear to have more traction in the corners?

mine feels the same as you are describing..after I upgraded to 31spline and auburn pro diff it was much harder to brake the tires loose. I just attributed it to better traction and lack of HP and 285/18's...my eagle F1's are much stickier then my nitto's were.

After I upgraded to a 31 spline setup, I noticed my car was more "stiff" for a while to drive in terms of acceleration. After I drove them for about a 1,000 miles, all of that seemed to go away. You have to break the parts in in order for them to work properly. That, and since its a 31 spline setup, its probably gripping better than stock, so figure that in as well.
