I just put on the Bullit deep dishes from Wheelreplicas.com and the car looks awesome, but (and this might be just me) I noticed that I'm accelerating a tad slower. Everyone on the boards here loves 'em, but I never heard anyone talk about them weighting their car down. Anyone?
You just added a ton of unsprung, rotating mass on the car... you're going to feel the difference in acceleration. I'm not sure what the exact weight difference is, but I'd imagine it's more than 10 pounds per wheel/tire.
What you're feeling is normal, and you're not going insane It's the cost of having a heavy wheel/tire combo. Unfortunately, to get a lightweight wheel in the same size will probably cost you about 3 times what you paid for the Bullit wheels.
you're probably right it will make a tad difference in acceleration. I don't have them but it's physics. You have more mass to get moving, bigger tires and wider rims = more weight that needs to get moving. It shouldn't be much difference. The looks IMO far outway the loss in acceleration. Get a supercharger and this will go away.
All of the above is true and should be expected. However, take solace in the fact your car looks better and with those wide rims you will get more grip when you have more horsepower(if you plan on it)
I'm seeing a trend here i wouldn't trust any shop here on Oahu to install one. San~Man? I couldn't do the work myself without seriously dorking it up, either. It's just bolt-ons for now until I move back to TX or FL.
if you cant afford a blower right now, gears and aluminum drive shaft will get6 rid of the sluggishness too. like it never existed. even my lightweight wheels with 275 tires slowed me down.
