bullit pedal questions

i was looking at the pedals on http://www.karkraft.com/ and was curious about the little nubs. are they rubber or plastic. i would think plastic nubs would make slippage easier. also, is it worth it to buy the pedals with the gas shaft or save a few dollars on just the pedals? thanks for the help

They are rubber little nubbies and they are a PITA to install, but ya know what? They look far better than anything else out there. We did both our Stangs without the gas pedal arm, but it would have probably been easier to just replace the whole arm. (My wife did the replacement on her 01, but I helped a bit with the gas pedal.) The gas pedal was the biggest PITA.
A little wd-40, some smaller flat blade screwdrivers, a 5x7 mirror, flashlight and patience.

i just called mustangtuning.com about this and they did not have an accelerator in stock to check, but they said the dead pedal had plastic nubs and they clutch/brake pedals had rubber nubs. i had ordered a set from 5.0 resto and the accelerator came with rubber cluthc/brake and plastic accelerator/dead pedals. if you have a full set of rubber nubbed pedals, can you please post a link of where they were purchased? thanks

Well, I guess that's correct about the dead pedal (that backing is plastic, the top is aluminum and it must be plastic nubs sticking thru), and the gas pedal is plastic and aluminum, but I was sure the nubs were rubber. Regardless, you'll never know the difference, I think they are all made by the same company, and it's the clutch and brake that I'd worry about slipping off of. I bought both sets for both GTs from Mustangs Unlimited. www.mustangsunlimited.com

Yep, I just went out there and dbl checked - the nubbies on the dead pedal and gas pedal are plastic, but on the clutch and brake, they are rubber. I honestly never really noticed the difference until you asked. They do keep your feet from slipping. But slipping off the gas is really never been an issue because your foot pivots off your heel. (at least that's my theory)

I have the same pedals from mustangtuning. They are great. Easy to install because I bribed my little brother.

My sneakers/boots both slip off of my Bullit pedals if my soles are wet.

i got mine from partshopper, everything went on easy except the brake pedal it never fit right. so after a few months of it slipping off i got some instant bond superglue and cut the ruber away from the edges,put super glue around the edges and stuck it on. its on now. ghetto yes,but effective

Yeah, me too. Also, I did not have any major problems with the install. For me it was no worse than those 4 bolts when installing grill delete. Even when my feet are wet, they do not slip. Also, it is amazing how many people notice them. Great mod.

I agree that they are a pain to install but a nice addition. A little trick is to spray the back of the clutch and brake pedals with clear silicone spray lube. Hook the pad over the top of the metal pedal, push hard and twist back an forth. They will eventually pop on. It may take several tries. Take the whole gas pedal assembly out of the car, it is only 2 nuts. It is much easier to change the pedal with it in a vise.

Excellent advice! I still had to pry them a bit and used a small mirror to check my progress.

I took my gas pedal assembly off too. I don't know how you guys got that pin out of there while leaving it on. For the clutch and brake, I put a small amount of soap and water around the edges of the rubber on the pedal covers, and put a small amount of vasoline on the top of the brake and clutch pedals. Start by putting the bottom of the pedals on first, and when it's secure, mash the pedal covers on with your foot and twist back and forth. If you use too much soap and water or vasoline, the pedal cover falls off before you can put your foot on it. It took me a couple tries, it sucked. Oh yeah, be careful while hammering the pin in and out on the gas pedal. It's easy to crack the plastic on the back of the pedal. I accidentally cracked it and had to work some magic to secure the pedal. Again, it sucked.

I cracked the plastic on the back of my gas pedal as well. Nothing major but still work fine. Just be very careful.
