If I do the el cheapo 5 lug conversion on my 87 mustang using the ranger rear axles and the front rotor swap to ranger unit.

Will the OEM late model bullit style wheels fit my car?? I dont want any of the aftermarket ones just some from a friend's car that he took off. they are factory ford.

will they fit the ranger parts and under my car right?

I know there was a thread somewhere saying which wheels would work with which 5-lug conversion but I can't seem to find the blasted thing... :bang:

no, you need the SN95 parts

why? guys with rangers toss mustang wheels on their trucks daily. there's a guy with a 92 ranger in town with cobra-r wheels on it. I dont see why it would work for the ranger guys but me using the same stuff they have on my car and it suddenly not working??

You dont have a CLUE what you are talking about. The cobra 98+ do NOT work. Niether does the 96+ 17" GT wheels.

The 95 R is one of the VERY few OEM wheels that do work on the lincoln rotors.

Do some research before typing next time.

They do to work with standard GT style front rotors. I'm running 99 Cobras on Lincoln disc brakes all around. The lincoln front rotors have the same bearing hub as a GT and it clears just fine with 14/16th inch spacers. Its totally save, fills the fender well nicely, adds track width for cornering, and moves the rim out and away so no more rubbing. I can take pictures if you dont believe me. Matt will try and tell you its not good to use spacers but I know plenty of guys who use them with no problems. Get the ranger axles and drums, and get 5 lug GT rotors. TMD has slotted 5-luggers for $70. You'll need longer studs and the spacers which I got from Summit for like $40-50. If you need specs I'll try and see if I can dig them up since you have to be precise or your lugs will bottom out on too long off a stud.

thanks for the help smock.

hmmmmmmm, SPACERS

Bad idea. Do it right the first time with the Sn95 parts. YOu get better brakes, suspension and NO MORE WARPING ROTORS!
Plus you can fit any of the Sn95 wheels!!!

hey smock was right haha :p

I'm able to do the ranger axle swap for the back and be able to use late model wheels with them right??

as for the sn95 fronts. I need everything from the spindle forward? do I need the sn95 soft lines also? I've got a 97 v6 coupe out back that's being parted out from a passenger side collision so if I have to use the front brakes from it I will...was just hoping to sell them instead of using them myself is all :bang:

will the rear axles and all from the v6 mustang work in my 8.8" housing? I think they are rear disc also....so I think I'd have to use that whole housing?? and it's 7.5" right?? so that kinda screws me on the rear end it seems like

Yes you can do the ranger axle and drum swap out back with no problems. ANY rear swap will work with ANY wheel. You could mount rims to broomsticks back there if you had a way to do it.

The problem is up front with the hub of the front rotors. Take your wheel off and you'll see the big nose of the rotor. This is what has a problem with some of the newer wheels. The SN95 parts do not have this snout. When you convert the front to 5-lug using Lincoln/SVO/Aftermarket conversion rotors, you still have this snout.

You can use spacers, but now you are pushing the wheel out farther and the rears will have a sucked in look. Even with no spacers the rears are tucked in more than the fronts. If you put spacers up front, you really need to put them out back to make it even. Plus spacers create stresses on the lugs.

So anyway, out back you can use the cheapo $200 conversion. But up front you can either spacer it or do it right with Sn95 junk up front

broomsticks haha.

anyway, case closed, thanks for that, I'll find out one way or the other this weekend I guess :P

so can I re-use my old soft lines up front or do I need the ones from the 97 v6??

Gosh so many people against using spacers and Lincoln swaps!
Went to "Fabulouse Fords Forever" show at Knotts Bery Farm this weekend and I saw a ton of cars using spacers and many Fox cars using Lincoln conversion with factory style wheels.
Saw a ton of 4 lug wheels with huge aftermarket brakes!
Think I just might stick with 4 lug and save the my money for a 4 lug 13 inch brake set up.
Just my thoughts...

Uh, the fronts dont stick out any farther than the rear. For a perfect front setup I used 235s in the front to eliminate any rubbing because the fox body is not designed to house 245s. The spacers and studs are $46, and the rotors are $100. Get lincoln Mark VII rotors without ABS for its easier to press in and out the studs. The lincolns bolt right in place of your old GT rotors and are slightly larger for more braking surface. Using a 14/16th spacer and 3 inch stud it works fine. Both tires stick out the same and I'm running 235s in the front and 245s in the back. As for the back use ranger axles and ranger 9 inch drums. This obviously is no high tech disc brake swap but its the cheapest, and easiest to do. Using all new parts including rear end gasket, and new seals and bearings all around it comes to a whopping $300.

smockDoiley ,

I'm an idiot when it comes to fractions 14/16?
How much is 14/16 converted to milimeters?

I test fit a 99 cobra wheel on my lincoln rotor and it seemed like I would need a huge spacer (over 1 inch!)

I work at a Ford dealer so when ever I see someone remove wheels off of a Mustang
I grab my Lincoln rotor and test fit it to the wheel

So Far:
99 wheels I will need a huge spacer possibly over 1 inch.
30th anniverssary GT wheels, also huge spacers over 1 inch
Bullets- 1/2 spacer
2003 Cobras- 1/2 spacer

I do not want to use any spacer over 1/2 inch.

I want to use my Lincoln/ranger set up so bad.
I got it all for only $60!

So what do you think of my findings with the wheels I mentioned above?
