bullitt vs mach suspension

i was looking more and more into the bullitt suspension being that its extremely cheap both ways and supposidly changes a good deal of the characteristics. my question is this, what is the difference between the bullitt and mach1 springs and dampers. i know the bullitt comes with the swaybars, which is nice, but my main concern is the springs and dampers. does anyone know the difference between the two?

I know the springs are different. The Bullitt will lower you Mustang more than the Mach 1. I have heard that the Bullitt sway bars really don't do much to help handling.

What?

Both have the same drop.

What the difference is that the Bullitt is tuned for handling, and the Mach is tuned for drag style launches.
Which you should go with depends on what you use the car for.

Well then I was fed BS. What I said was the answer I got when I asked the same question on this board.

Bullitt lowers the Mustang 3/4in.
Mach 1 lowers the Mustang 1/2in.

considering i am going for handeling... bullitt and MM LCAs a good start? then add on the new XL subframes and a torque arm with panhard.

No you were told right. The Bullitt suspension lowers the car just about a full inch, whereas the Mach 1 is right around 1/2 inch. The Mach 1 starts to have chin spoiler issues when it gets lowered more than that. I've nearly ripped my chin spoiler off a few times!

Just for clarity, when we're talking about the "Bullitt" suspension are we talking about the 5400-A from FRPP?

Got the Bullit kit from gefracing.com

Front springs 600lb. Rears 250lb.
And I think, Struts 35mm. Front stabilizer
28mm. Shocks 30mm customed valved. Rear stabilizer 21mm.
But hey it's Friday, have a good weekend.

I've been thinking about the Bullitt kit for a while now. It seems like a good median spot, since these Texas roads aren't too forgiving for lowered cars.

They are right, the bullitt kit lowers slightly more than the mach kit. Ford changed their height requirements for the Mustang in '03 and raised all the models up a tad bit

trinity, i was talking about the bullitt kit, as sold by GEFracing.com i was not aware of one from FRPP.

EDIT: after a little digging i found the 5400A, and its identical to the one from GEFracing.com so i suppose that would be the one.

Regarding the 5400A suspension kit, ever notice how most of the adds say something like "similar to the Bullitt suspension". Has anyone ever checked the actual part numbers on the items in the kit to see if they are actual Bullitt pieces and not Mach1?

Perhaps someone with a Ford parts catalog could check. From the 5400-A parts currently sitting in my basement:

front coils: 3R33-5310-CA (tag also has "MCH" on it)
rear coils: 3R33-5560-BB (tag also has "MRH" on it)
front shocks: Tokico, Ford # 1R33-18045-AA
rear shocks: Tokico, Ford # 1R33-18080-AA
front anti-roll: no partnumber, only distinguishing feature is blue paint spot mid-length
rear anti-roll: no partnumber, only distinguishing feature is white paint spot at one end

(Don't have a caliper or vernier handy to measure their diameters.)

The Ford racing catalog calls this the "Handling Kit" and doesn't mention Bullitt at all. It was the claim of a 3/4" drop that made me think it was related to the Bullitt.

that is what i was thinking as well. not necessarily the bullitt but at least similer if not mostly the same.

I'll make a run down on the numbers and see if i can track them down.

the only 5310 springs i could find where 5310-r58 from the 95 cobra R in 700-800 lbs/in.

there were two 5560s the 5560-R58 which was the rear counterpart to the above listed 5310. and the 5560-R00 which was the 2000 cobra R springs for the rear, though it has a picture that references the 5310-R00s for the front springs.

not having the big book i was limited on what i could find. and found nothing about the dampers..... anyoner else have better luck?

Yeah, I saw those too at the FRPP site. The M-5400-A page says:

M-5400-A
• Kit includes increased rate Mustang springs, anti-roll bars, shocks and struts tuned for use with this package
• Spring rates: front 600 lb.-in. and rear 250 lb.-in.
• Lowers 1994-98 vehicles 1'' and 1999-03 vehicles .75"

It'd be great if someone could find verify this. I don't want 800 lbs/in coils on the front of my GT...
