i own a 97 cobra and i was racing the other day and was full throttle in third. went to throw it into 4th and some how got it into 2nd (I HAVE NO IDEA HOW).
it reved so loud and scared the sh#t out of me i pulled over. i began to smell a burning smell and was not able to get into a gear for approx. 5 minutes. i soon then afterwards was able to get it into gear and drove away.
today (2 days later) the car is driving fine going into gears fine, though i still smell a burning smell here and ther.
WHAT IS THIS??
HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE??

Hm, I figure such a thing would be practically impossible these days with all the gear syncro's and such. Although, chances are, if you weren't able to get the car into gear for approx 5 mins, something in your transmission might have gone a bit haywire. Personally, I'd get my transmission serviced just to be safe.

Yeah....sounds like you glazed the clutch disk a little. I wouldn't worry about it if it's still driving fine though. Just hang some pine scented air fresheners from your mirror and ignore the smell. :nice:

Lol

Yea you will prob have the smell for a while just drive it and it will eventually go away, as long as you didn't **** it up to bad

Full throttle from a 3rd to 4th? That means you were going about 60? Your engine must have uffin SCREAMED when you caught 2nd! One time I accidently did the same thing (had the car for 3 days, first time driving stick) at 45mph and I thought my car was going to explode...

Thanks for the suggestions! I have 355 gears and I believe I was doing well over 60 but when your racing your not to concerned with speed but but watching the limiter.
I believe I will take it to get looked at first thing early week. Just the thought of damaging the tranny or clutch (which is new and an upgrade at that) is killing me. I have been keeping it easy (low rev, no racing) the last few days which we all know is not know fun at all.
Any other suggetions welcomed. Thanks Again
