when i rev high and let the clutch out pretty fast to spin the wheels a little, i smell a very noticeable burnt-rubber like smell that seems to be coming from the the clutch/transmission area. i can smell it through the e-brake opening. the slower i let the clutch out, the stronger the smell seems to be.

i almost never launch hard now because i am afraid it is doing something very bad to the car.

what gives?

Yes you are wearing the clutch. The slower you let the clutch out the more wear on the clutch. So if your going to spin the tires, get the clutch out as quick as possible. All your doing is wearing the clutch. IF you do it every now and then it wont be real bad, but if your doing it all the time, your going to be going through alot of clutches.

remember this...the shortest amount of time your left foot spend depressing and releasing the clutch the longer it will last. try to get the clutch engaged as quickly as possible for the least amount of wear. friction causes heat....heat kills everything
