I have had the worst experience with Ford and our local dealership- County Ford. I purchased a 2012 Mustang GT and we had had transmission problems. After many weeks of trying to get them to take the car back they have denied our request. Ford advertises American Built but the transmissions are built in China. They brag about their customer service but it’s the worst I have experienced- especially locally. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened an investigation. There are many complaints about the transmission on the Mustang forums on the internet and YouTube. There are some lawsuits filed against Ford reference this. My wife and I have no confidence in the car and believe it is not safe. A new $38000 car should not be in the shop for 60 days in the first 4 months of ownership. I’ve made four payments ($559.28 ea.). The first payment made the car was not in our possession. The vehicle broke one week after the second payment was made. The payment on 12/01/11 the vehicle was not in our possession and the last payment on 1/03/12 we had had the vehicle back for only 1 days and the vehicle was parked in our garage. We paid $4000 down, we’ve made four payments totaling $2237.12 at 0% interest. Basically we have spent $6237.12 and have not had the car in our possession for half of the time of ownership. That’s not including insurance and taxes (approximately $50 a month insurance and just paid $293 taxes on car) and title, registration fees and taxes when purchased. That is a lot of money for our family. We have been patient and tried to work this out. After the first repair we accepted an extended warranty. After the transmission locked up while traveling through one of the most busiest intersections we do not feel the car is safe.

Purchased vehicle- 8/16/11.
1st repair-Vehicle was at County Ford for 2 ½ weeks (total) in September-Oct (they evaluated and ordered parts. Took car back to be repaired)
2nd repair- 11/08/11 – 12/23/11 (45 days) **vehicle on lift the entire time. Found out when we picked it up they damaged the Ext housing while attempting to replace bearing-had to wait for parts shipped from China**
3rd repair- 1/11/12-until?

Ford will not buy the car back from us and sadly we will not ever buy another Ford.

Have you tried taking it to another dealer for repair? I know it's probably a pain but it sounds like the relationship between you and your dealer has reached a point where neither one of you wants to deal with the other, at the very least, you have zero confidence in them (or the vehicle).

Hey BlueStallion12,

I responded to your other post, but wanted to make sure you saw it. Please DM me your VIN, along with your contact information and mileage, so I can assist. Thanks!

Thanks for everyones input. It will take a hell of alot to persuade me from getting a new GT. It almost seems like alot of the issues could have been avoided or happened to a much less of a degree if the owner was more responsible in maintaining (checking oil) and driving the vehicle (forcing shifts). Every manual trans i've owned has had issues with not going into gear or grinding at some point or another, I know for sure if I were to continue to force shifts and get more and more frustrated that the tranny would not have ever lasted.

Hello Tron84,

CONGRATULATIONS!!

That's a sweet and hot looking 'Stang. Try not to overdose on the new car smell.

Hi slidnby,

Ok grasshopper, , I am going to refer you to the Shifting Intervals on page 224 of the Owner Guide. Give them a looksee when you have a moment. If you need any further clarification, your dealer will be more than happy to assist you further or give me a shout out.

Have an AWESOME weekend!

Sweet, my car was pretty tight from the factory and has smoothed out both in driveability and in shifting as a few miles roll onto it. So, if things're a little stiff or weird behaving, before freaking out just put a bit of use on her and see how it fares. Gear kickout is mostly engaging the synchro ring but not fully engaging the gear, for example.

You have 3/36 b to b so, don't panic.

So i picked up the car yesterday and all I can say is WOW. This thing pulls hard! Love the interior, lighting, comfort, everything!! Only problem is that I haven't been able to stop driving it enough to get some good pictures of it. Will work on that today!!
