My friend has a 351 block that he was going to buildup. He's getting married now though, so I'm gonna buy it from him. He had it bored (he said .060" over if he remembers right), decked, new cam bearings put it, and a few other things. He paid $250 just for the machine work, but he's gonna sell it to me for $200. He has a crank for it too, but no rods, pistons, or oil pan. His neighbor is always selling 5.0 parts though, he's gonna ask him if he has some things I'll need.

Basically, I'm gonna buy the motor, and build it up over time, and put it in the mustang whenever I'm finished. I was thinking about putting my TW heads and Stage 1 cam on it, to build a real torquey motor. But that would involve me either tearing my 5.0 back apart, or finding a stock 5.0 to drop in the mustang so I can part out my current motor. I haven't decided what to do yet. But I definitely want to build a nice torquey motor. Anyway, as I find out more info, I'll let you guys know what I decide to do.

i made 355hp and 395tq at the wheels with the trickflow r intake,75mm tb,30# inj. same heads and a autologic chip. now it is considerablely stronger with what is in my sig. no new #'s. the tweecer tuning felt like it made some more power also.

Don't forget that the 351 may not have a roller cam in it like the 5.0. I think that some cam companies make a roller for the 351, but it is different than the 5.0 one. It would make a good swap for your car though. Good Luck.

As others said, you're going to have to find out if it's a roller block or not. Even if it's not, the quick fix is the linked Crane lifters. Quite expense, but your safest option, IMO.

Also, I'd look for another cam. The Stage 1 is built for a 302. When CID goes up, RPM range goes down. It's pretty much the same idea of strapping a Performer manifold on a 347. It's "suggested" RPM range of idle-6000 RPM is based on a 302. When you put it on a 347, that brings it down to the 5500 RPM range.

Find a decent cam and rocker combo with close to .600" net lift and something with durations close to 225/230.
