Ordering new cam in next two days. My current combo is pretty much

302 .30 over. early 80's block
je forged pistons 9 1/2 to 1
Edlebrock RPM intake
BG Speed Demon 650
Trick Flow Street Heat Heads
Comp Cams roller rocker
Tri Y headers
Canton Windage Tray

3:70 rear gears
9" rear
Auburn Pro Unit

Trying to figure out what that is germain is left out. Anyway......

I'm told by my shop that my cam shaft is shot. Some ticking sounded like valves, they say it was caused by a cam shaft that has seen better days. Currently running a summit racing cam (cam card is attachment)

The long and short of it is I'm looking for advice from people who are running similar components and getting solidly in the 300 rwhp area. Obviously I'd take advice from anyone who has more cam knowlege than me and that would be EVERYONE. I drive the car daily and it has to hold idle well enough for air conditioning BAKERSFIELD IS HOT AS HELL.

Again planning to order ASAP so come one come all give me advice on this Flat tappet cam.......

That cam will work with what you've got, only two things about it though, it's not gonna have a smooth idle and your comp ratio is a bit low for it.

The Edelbrock Performer RPM cam should work very well with your combination.

D hearne, The thing is that cam is the one I'm pulling out. I'm looking for something more suited to my set up. By the way I really dig a lumpy idle it just has to has to be able to support Air Conditioning.

I think you should call the pros at CompCams. Are you gonna run nitrous?

Wow thanks for the input. As someone suggested I called the guys at comp cams. Spoke to a good guy who recommended a custom grind.

Grind # 6277\6400s110+4

Duration
230 intake
238 exhaust

Lift
520 intake
536 exhaust

Now I will be calling them back to see what additional parts this will require. If this whole show creeps too close to a grand (with labor) I think it's time to talk the wife into a 347 shortblock. NEVER REPLACE.....UPGRADE!
