when spring rolls around, i am going to buy a 99-04 GT, but first i have a few questions.
1. Is there any differences between the years.
2. What is the most i should pay for a 1999?
3. What kind of gas milage do they get.
4. What are some good mods for these motors, as compared to the slow five-oh

I can't wait till i get one  , thanks for your answers. :nice:

All 99+ are mostly the same difference being mostly cosmetics. In 2001, they added smoked headlights, hood scoop, side scoop, different spoiler,Bullitt wheels became an option. Changed the old style radio to a 6 disc changer. In mid 01 they upgradded the trans to a Tremec 3650! Late 01 they went to an aluminum crossover on the plastic intake! You can pick up a 99gt for around $10k w/ descent miles. As for mods You can see around 380 to the wheels w/ a good blower.

1. they all produce the same hp(260) and torque(302), but the 99-00 have lower compression than 01+, some say they handle forced induction better

the manual trans changed in 01 I believe from the t-45 to the t3650
there are some very minor differances in the interior, 01 up gets smoked headlights 99-00 doesnt, 01 up gt's get the differant side scoops and a non functional hood scoop
I think the alternator changed midway thru 01, not very important though, the differances between all the cars are minimal
2. I would say a 99 in mint condition with all options no more than 12k(with lets say 50k) I paid 9,500 for mine but it didnt tires and didnt have many options(no leather, no mach stereo, no auto(wanted 5spd anyway), no traction control) shoot for 10k like I did you might get lucky

3. depends on how you drive but i ussually get about 16 city 22 highway

4. supercharger, turbo, nos, pullies, long tube headers, off road x pipes, custom tunes, plenum & tb, cams

btw if I were you I'd look for a 99 or 01 cobra if you can afford it, should be able to find one for under 15k

Yea just take your time. I think I got a really good deal... the only problem was it was involved in an accident in what looked like a pole or something... the bumper was damaged but fixed for free, the very edge of the hood is dinged (but hard to notice) and the headlight was cracked (bought used for $50 on ebay)

Mine came stock (good) and is fully loaded (leather, traction control, power everything, Mach 460, 5-speed) Decent miles (46,000) I got it down to $9900.

expect stupid stuff to break, my window regulator broke, my trunk leaks, my taillight and fog lights leak, and the stock ford headlights are crap, an ignition coil went bad, and my iac went. but overall I'm very happy.

Havent had any problems w/ my 01. Well except somehow the starter cable came un done. A fuse went out causing car not to start  I paid $14300 w/ 59k miles on it. Could have found one cheaper maybe but I had to go threw a dealership since I was only 18! And dont forget to take the lift kit off that ford likes so much! A set of sportline springs will take care of it for you
