How do you do it? I dont have the mach460, but i do have the premium sound system. My drivers door speaker hasnt worked since I got the car, and my back speakers have been cutting off. I checked all the connections and they are all fine. Im pretty sure its the amp. So how do you bypass it?
And will i notice a decrease in volume or quality when I bypass it? I have an aftermarket Pioneer 200W head, and Im pretty sure the amp in the car is 200W.

So do I just un hook the speakers from the amp, and hook those wires to the speaker wires on the radio?
Thanks guys

the harness from the factory head unit comes form a small amp mounted under the radio in front of the shifter. once you take the head unit out, inside that big hole there is a a harness with 2 plugs mounted on the right hand side. you gotta unplug those 2 and instead of plugging the one that comes out of the deck into the amp harness, you plug it into the two on the side. once you take it apart you will see what i mean.

forgive me if something is wrong, i did this over 3 years ago

I was looking at it real quick (I can take my radio out in under 3 minutes ) and the plugs are on the back, I didnt see any on the passenger side, but I didnt really look after I found the two on the back. Theres a small one, and the other is bigger.

the 2 on the back are the ones you have to bypass. there are 2 on the right that are identical and you gotta plug your **** into that

Ok, so the back ones just lay there once I take the amp out?

And do I need some special plugs? Or will everything plug right up?

now that i think about it, i think that in order for an aftermarket deck to work you have to bypass the amp, so you may have done that already or was the deck it it when you bought the car?

It was put in when I got the car... by me and a friend. The amp isnt bypassed. We got a special plug that works with the premium sound system. Im pretty sure the amp is hooked up.

you could always just run speaker wire directly from the head unit to the speakers. i did this when i swapped to some polk audio speakers and it sounds so much better

yea, the plug that originally plugs into the factory deck. instead of that one you gotta plug it into the 2 on the right side.

and by premium sound you mean the standard tape deck right?

Yea, it had 2 plugs on it.

And I have NO idea what was originally in it. All I know is its not the 460, and it has a stock amp.

The easiest way is what I did, remove the entire stock stereo including the wiring harnesses and speaker wire, then redo the whole thing yourself. Once I ran my own wiring, it sounded so much better and of course it was my own so I knew it was all done perfectly.

yea running your own speaker wire will always produce better quality than the factory wiring.

but for lazy people like me, thats not something i want to do until it breaks haha

I wanted to run mine without running new wires, but in the end I said screw it. It's not worth trying to use the factory stuff, it sounds crappy. Straight wired from the head unit FTW.
