C-4 to a tremec 3550 ????? need input

c-4 to stick....slower ????

I have an offer to trade my c4 for a tremec 3550. I think I need one. The stall flashes too high on the bottle. I cross the 1/8 at like 5600 on a 100 shot. I can't use it at the 1/4 yet because no cage. But with the 150 or 175 shot, I'm gonna run outta gear. So then I have to buy 28in tall tires just to pass 1/4. Also what is weird is the mph doesn't match the et. 12.1x at 108-109. So it makes my wonder if the stall is way too loose. But the 3k I had did the same. I would love OD for these 4.11's I have. But I don't want this tranny to slow me down. Ideas ?

So whats the stall?
With my 3.73 gears and 26" tires I cross the line in the 1/8 mile at around 6600rpm's in second gear.I think im gonna get a cam that pulls to 7000rpm so I don't have to shift to 3rd gear to get 100mph in the 1/8 mile.
 
Stall is a 3500 tci. I used to run out at sunshine all the time. The old red ugly 67 Mustang with no hood. Seen it ? I'm not unhappy with the performance so far. But OD would be nice. It just it runs 7.6's at only 88.7-89.15. Trap should be faster no ? At Bradenton, the 1/4 times are only 12.1's. At only 109. Figure if I could pick up mph because of stick, the et would drop, too. The 5600 is in 3rd GEAR !!! I only shift at 6100 becaue it's only an x-303 cam. Gears are 4.11's. The damn stall just flashes so high on the bottle. And it hasn't even seen anything highe than 100 yet.
 
Off the bottle: The 60 is 1.69 best. average is 1.70-1.74 stalls to about 3500-3600

On the squeeze: 1.52 on empty bottle (didn't know) New bottle 1.65, rims spun in tires. Flashes to about 4500. Have screwed rims, but moved and haven't gone to track yet.

This is all with a 750. Have a 650 on that I'm going to try next time.

Everytime I took the car out, it was getting faster,et and MPH. But you know sunshine on WED. nights. Just haven't had a whole lotta time to tune. Just wonder if the car is actually under powered, and the stall is making up the difference at the line because of the flash. Should be making good hp. AFR"S blah blah blah.
Have always thought about just running a 28in tall tire for the 150-175. I know it will stall even higher with more n20 and taller tire. But thought maybe it would help in crossing the finish before 6100.

The 1/4 is what's really throwing me off. Should be like 4-6 mph faster.
 
I launch about the same rpm as you but with a trans brake on the 2 step.The converter is either not very effeincent in upper rpm range and 3rd gear (slipping just a little), or your trans is slipping in 3rd.Thats way you 1/4 mph might be slow.Sound like you got a trans brake because I don't see you foot braking it to 3600.My PTC 10" 3500 will stall to 4000rpm if I don't use the 2 step.The way I got it hooked up is that the nitrous comes on only after the trans brake button is released.Maybe you should look into a 2 step, or wheel studs and a bigger cam.
 
I made the exact same swap with my car...not so much to make it faster, just more fun to drive. I'll sacrifice a couple tenths in the pursuit of driving bliss :nice:

Anyways, you'll need pretty much the same stuff you'd need for a T5 swap, except that the Tremec uses a different style shifter. If you're not sure about how to swap and you're still interested, i'd say try a search and you'll get 100 or so threads, or PM me and i'll fill ya in.
