i had a c6, sure itll live forever. but it will leave a lot of accelleration on the table. if you dont know anyone who can build you a good c4 i can make some recommedations. putting a small bell c6 with a 302 is easy. since its a 164t flexplate you just run an aod flexplate if its a latemodel 50oz 302. a small bell c4 is a much better use of money if you want to the thing to run halfway decent.

we've got a stock internal c4 with an 8" converter and a transbrake thats been running for 3 years. first behind a low 10 second all motor 347. then behind a 351 inch windsor that went 10.0s on the gas and high 10's on the motor. right now we are putting together a big windsor that should go mid 9s on motor, we are going to run the c4 behind it. we have never freshened it, and dont plan on going through it until it s the bed. a c4 is a good trans if your builder isnt a complete dumbass.

Well I can't find a t5 that cheap and it'll cost 500+ to fix mine and I would really rather a auto anyways. I can get a 4r70w for about 350 so about how much more will it cost to do the swap

the trans controller is about $600 by the time all is said and done. you can convert the stock valvebody to forward manual, but your builder has to know how. im running a 4r70 in my fox right now. but i have a forward manual valvebody with a transbrake which was $600. and then you either have to figure out a way to wire up the converter lockup (if you dont and run around with it unlocked all the time itll burn up the trans), or convert the trans to a non lockup unit like i did. the 4r70 not a plug and play deal unless you plan on spending a couple grand. interestingly enough a friend of mine is wanting to buy my 4r70, so i will probably sell that big bitch to him and put a c4 back in my car. when its all said and done if you are trying to do this cheap it will be cheaper to run a c4 and they live just fine.

This is great news. If I ever decide to build a drag car, it's gonna be boosted with a C6 But I'm not even done with my DD yet so idk why I'm even wanting another project already.

And yeah the C6 is a tough SOB. It's just a lot of people don't like them because they're heavy and they take quite a bit of power away

If this wasnt already in my car im thinking a c-4 would be plenty if built right. One of my friends has a c-4 in his 65 and is running mid 9s at 150ish id say it works. And i agree boost is the shiz if ya can get it to hook!

I just wanna put a C6 in my own vehicle because it isn't very common. At least not where I live

There are 2 types of SBF C6 tranny cases that I am aware of, maybe other designs, but I know of 2 distinct cases.
One is a smooth back, where the top of the bell and tranny are smooth, then there is a version where there are ribs running from the top of the bell, and down the spine of the tranny.

If I had a choice, assuming the internals are just as strong, I'd run the ribbed version.
You have to figure that the ribs will not only add to the strength of the case, but also aid cooling.
Ford added them for a reason I assume...

IT SHOULD BE NOTED that the C6 is a very wide tranny.
I don't know about the exhaust on a Fox, but having done the swap in older cars, I ran into issues with exhaust, especially headers, not clearing the body of the transmission. Just a heads up, you'd have to speak with someone that has a C6 Fox to know for sure what works and what doesn't.

Really? You just wanna put a hard to find, heavy as hell, power sucking monster behind your engine because it's not very common? That makes as much sense as pis sing in the wind..........it's not very common either.

And it don't matter where you live,...it's not very common anywhere.

Well nobody's ever seen a Mach 1 styled foxbody but that sure as hell didn't stop you from building one now did it?

Zing! Yeah they are heavy but i guess 10.7 isnt bad with a heavy trans maybe i would run a 10.6 with something else.

And just to clarify since my last post did come off a little mean, I thoroughly liked your car. But what my point was is that it's something you wanted to do whether or not it made sense to anyone else. That's all I meant, no disrespect

it'd be different if a transmission could be seen, or appreciated for any other benefit other than living forever behind an engine that it routinely steals at least 50 hp from.

Try 10.30 0r .40 w/ a c-4 instead.
If all it cost to run a trans that weighs 50 lbs more than it's little brother, with all kinds of extra internal rotational mass churning away was just a tenth, why in the hell isn't everybody doing it?
