I need to buy a cage since I want to start racing my car here soon. I would like to see some of your cages. I need at least a 6 point. I remember seeing a car at AFM that had a chrome one that looked great, but I cant find who makes it. Thanks!

Chrome=not legal no matter if its 6pt, 8pt, or whatever. Chrome plating changes the properties of the steel and NHRA will not appove of it. I'd like to change my roll bar around someday in the future, and I love the look of chrome in my car. I'm looking into alternatives and trying to find one that is legal.

i'd bet you could get a chrome powder coat and be ok.

here's some pics of mine. mm 6pt with swing out door bars. it is painted now, and i will wrap padding all the way around.

I dread the day I need to put in a roll cage. My GF will kill me when i tear most of that out of there. BUT, with a turbo, i'm thinking it's just a matter of time.
i've got new carpet and i will put the interior back in, one of these days.

but yeah, my wife hates it. good thing i got another stang:nice:

trust me, when you got it all tore out and got the welder out you will do a whole lot more work than you think. there are several seams i ended up removing that bonding BS and welded the seams. rear shock towers for instance, and the "rib" that the front seat bolts to.

yeah, getting in and out on both sides would be important, and i would hate to get rid of the rear seat too. Well, let me rephrase that, once again, my GF would hate it... take that as you will.

I like the look of the ones Saleen used in the SR351. The door bars dropped low so you could step over them easily.

Do yourself and buy a NHRA rule book. The bar that you describe does NOT sound NHRA legal. It must cross between your shoulder and elbow amoungst other things. Make sure you know the rules and such before spending your hard earned money.

bimmertech- I powdercoat my own parts and the chrome powdercoat I have used on my parts does not look like chrome enough for me to do it that way. I have a few ideas, but I need to check them all to see if they are legal or not.

This is probably the cage I will be going with when time comes if I do not make my own. I've heard a lot of good things about this company and their work seems to be top notch. I just glansed over the rules on NHRA's site about cages and it seems to be legal. Hell, its even cheaper than that Kenny Brown thing that got posted up earlier.

go up to the Mustang tab at the top and you can look at all their other bars/cages for the car as well

I'm thinking about taking my car out to Rhodes Custom to get mine done. I want mine with a cross brace. Picture below showing what i mean.
