CAI fenderwell?

has anyone ever had any problems with a fenderwell CAI, like hit a puddle or mass amount of water and it got in there and got sucked in. Just wondering if anyone ever had that happen or thought it could.

It won't. There's a plastic piece that covers the underside of the fenderwell inside the wheel well. Any splashing that will happen will be in the wheel well, and it is covered.

I've had my fenderwell CAI on my car for about a year now and I've never had a single problem out of it. I've driven in some pretty heavy rain as well. I don't mean to offend anyone with what I'm about to say but, the people who you hear stories about who have had water sucked into their CAI are usually rice boys who think that sticking the CAI filter out into open air, usually under the front fender, gives them more horsepower. While that's a debatable subject, if your CAI is out in the open like that then yes, it's very easy to see how rain water and other debris could be sucked into your engine. However, as someone else already stated, a fenderwell mounted CAI is protected from such elements by a plastic shielding. You should have no problems out of it. That's my $.02 on the subject.

if he did hit a big enough puddle though, it could have become engulfed in the water, man, that'd be hell to deal with.

no it wont be a problem unless you submerge your car in water up to the hood. In order for there to be enough water in the cylinder to cause hydrolock the filter would have to be under water. It takes alot of suck to pull that much water through a filter so it would have to be completly submerged.

Also I am doing a deal on a 2004 mustang v6. What 1/4 times do these things run stock? Am I going to hate this car? It is a 5 speed car with all the toys.

like they said, it would take serious water to get it wet enough to matter, especially with the fenderwell cover. That thing is a bitch to get off, so I doubt that it would leak much.
