I put in a K&N a while back and was recently wondering...

Since it's pulling air from within the engine bay, should I put the black rubber snorkle (original equipment) back in to pull air in from the wheel well or leave it out?

I don't think you'll make/lose anything either way. Think of it more as a cosmetic proposal.

I'm not looking to increase power with putting it back on. I was just wondering if it will help cool the engine bay down a bit or if the extra airflow over the filter will disturb any readings by the MAF.

MAF is after the filter and the filter is the actual restriction.

Analogy: If you have a strainer (filter) and you pour ten gallons of water through it over 3 minutes, it will pass through and likely won't overflow. If you pour ten gallons through the strainer in one minute, you will overflow, but the net rate of flow (throug the strainer/filter) is the same in that minute.

Conclusion: Silencer on or off, the filter will be the final determinant in how much air reaches the MAF.

only thing that will hurt the maf readings will be excess oil (if present) from the filter or if you modify the sampling tube deflector area of the maf. Which i learned real quick
