CAI + Tornado Fuel Saver= No pinging

Yeah, I guess it kind of makes sense that it cannot supply enough fuel under the most stressful conditions.
If Adam doesn't hear his name being called, I'll probably start a new thread in a couple of days. :)

Thanks

Humm I'm trying to recall this. I do remember one thing about GT's vs. Cobras. The Cobra's MAF curve calls for a fatter A/F then the GT's at WOT, which is why you hear a lot of GT owner's complaining about pinging at WOT and not so much from the Cobra side.

It's a classic case of two known problems:

1 - Dirty MAF (it gets dirty over time, especially with an oil based conical aftermarket filter) which is not reporting all of the air entering the engine, thus causing a lean condition. At WOT, the only information your computer uses in terms of air is from the MAF.

2 - An already "lean" MAF transfer function

There are a couple different fixes... adding an FPR would fix the symptom but not the disease. Clean your maf and air filter, it just might be that easy.

Adam

Since Joe is talking about ping under CL conditions

I was wondering if elevated pressures would kill the ping

Of course, we are getting in that area of controversy about ......
Does the adaptive activity during CL change the af ratio during OL

Was it not you who

Did the datalogging showing how afpr's do or do not effect OL operation?

Still to this day ............
I've no hard data about elevated fuel pressure :bang:
and
How it does or does not effect CBAZA OL operation :(:

then again

Its no biggie cause we all know afpr's are counter productive to CL operation

but still ... it would be great to know for sure :nice:

I sure ain't gonna buy one to datalog and find out :rlaugh:

I have tried a new MAF, stock replacement from corral classifieds.
I'll try cleaning it again though, but at WOT would the MAF be the only sensor that messes with A/f? Or does the ACT/ECT/o2's also effect it?
What does an already lean MAF transfer function mean? Just that our MAF table was too lean to begin with, so I'm SOL except richening things up?

I really hate to bring this up...but its always in the back of my mind.
My ACT is retarded. It really is. In warm weather, I need to use a resistor to get the car to run normally, else it bogs, hesitates and runs very poorly.
I replaced the ACT and it still happens, the only thing that would 'fix' the problem was a resistor, tricking the computer.
Now I'm wondering, I know potentially how badly the ACT sensor can make your car behave...and was wondering if these two problems could in anway be related.
The only thing I can think of is if there is a loose wire or bad connection from the ACT -> computer.

Thanks for your help guys
Joe

this was a sarcastic reply since this thread is garbage as it is

no I really do think he has a point 24s arent enough for a nice 347 let alone a 393 but, you do have a point who seriously puts a tornado in there car that is having a pinging issue. all you are doing is restricting air flow and thats why it stoped pinging. :Teh-Win:

I thought the original thread-thought was a little strange (I'm not about to badmouth anything because I really like that everyone can pretty much say as they want without worrying. That separates SN from some other places). But once Grady, Adam and Joe got rolling, I thought this got quite interesting. :nice: Just goes to show that a thread title doesn't always indicate what's gonna be inside. :SNSign:

I just gotta say two things I've been meaning to bring up :D
but
Since you already brought em up here JT :nice:
and
Since some of it has to do with Hijacking
Right Here in this thread ......... is good as any other place :rlaugh:

1) I feel very comfortable asking something stupid
or
Throwing something out there at the risk of looking stupid

This forum has peeps that ... like me ... they all seem to want to learn
and
Most peeps I've seen on here ... they don't try to make others ......
look stupid, small or anything negative like that when
Q's have been asked about stuff

I hope we don't never change from that and I always want peeps to .....
feel free to ask about things that can sometimes get kinda involved.

I get a bit frustrated at times when I know what I wanna say
but
I just don't do so good at getting my thoughts across when trying to help

2) I am the worlds worst at Hijacking :D

I usually try to stay on the thread title subject
but
I see someone say something that makes me go in another direction

As I see it, the worst thing about Hijacking is ...............
Info is more hard to find with a search when it doesn't pertain to thread title

I see no easy way to fix the issue other than ...................
We all try to keep the threads on topic
and
If need be ... Start a new thread if a new subject or thought comes up

I'm done now ....... Hijack over :D
