Ok, so I know there is a diverse opinion on here about cold air intakes. I read that the stock air box is better than MOST cold air kits ( per JRICHKER). So, my question is this.... which brand is the one that is actually BETTER than the stock air box?

Little back story.... I'm adding the TFS Trackheat soon with all the neccesary mods ( injectors, t-body, MAF, etc. ). I'm going to be buying a cold air kit if I can find the best one....:flag:

might as well custom fab something. you can get the tubing here: http://www.intakehoses.com/ , and i just use a stock replacement filter from a 91 prelude...its a canister style similar to a cone filter but cylindrical...not conical. be sure to use a heat shield to prevent fan wash from entering your air filter. many idle problems are due to not using a shield. my2cents

I agree with you - do a powerpipe type of thing or leave well enough alone. I wouldn't want an engine mounted filter unless it's very-well shielded like Tengram suggests (kind of like a FIPK on a mod motor mustang, if you're familiar with those. That's my only frame of reference because it's the only one I've installed on a mustang).

I have a name brand chrome CAI on the 94 and I hate it - it heat soaks so bad that my IAT temps are higher than my ECT temps in 115* ambient temps.

Good luck.
