California Emissions for 99 GT...HELP!!!!

Hey everyone - I have a modified 99 GT that I recently brought to California, and although it passed IL and TX emissions, it does not pass California and I need help! I have the following after-market parts installed: JET chip, K&N filter charger, Basani X-Pipe exhaust system.

After failing the first test, the emissions tech told me that my air/fuel mix is running too rich, and the reason I'm failing the test is that too much uncombusted gas is coming out of my tailpipes. Can anyone please help me figure out a cheap way to fix this so I can pass California emissions??? Thanks so much for your help and suggestions.

you need the stock H-pipe to be able to pass unless you get a real good dyno tune, also do a pre-test before you actually do the real test again

Get your stock midpipe back on.
OR
Get a GOOD dyno tune from someone who knows what they are doing; even then, you may not pass.

you need the stock h pipe, anything other than that is illegal.

I love the sound I have with my Basani X Pipe, and would hate to lost that...but on the other hand, I would hate even more to have my license suspended because I didn't pass my smog test when I was supposed to.

your license isnt gonna get suspended, you just wont be able to register your car. also you will leave yourself open to getting your car impounded.

Well you have some options here... First off you can buy some magnaflow cats. You can get those welded in at any muffler shop. Then after you pass the test you could either A. take it back to the shop and have them removed and straight pipes welded back in. However, unless you know the guy they probably wont do it... Or B. you can just buy another off-road pipe and swap it out then you can just change out midpipes whenever you need to smog it.
What I did was I just went back to the muffler shop and said "How about I pay you $100.00 cash and NO WORKORDER and you just cut out those cats and weld in strait pipe." and they did it... So know I have two brand new Magnaflow cats just sitting in my closet in the boxes.

Chill, if you find a performance shop that does a lot of work for track cars, they will hook you up with someone to smog you. Where do you live?
