I have recently moved to California and tried to register my car but they require a pollution test and I failed so miserably that they cited me as a GROSS poluter. Before I spend 500 bucks on a Magnaflow X pipe W/ cats, to replace my bbk o/r , does anyone know if this will clean up my car enough to pass, or should I just try to get another stock H pipe?

Welcome to California.

Emission laws are a little stricter here. Even though I love performance, I can tolerate this because I want at least an acceptable level of air quality.

So the catted X-Pipe will pass the smog inspection at certain stations (some will notice you removed the factory cats). I just left the factory cats in place and installed a mean cat-back.

I'm rocking that pipe and was told by a Magnaflow rep it will pass the sniffer but will fail the visual unless you can find a "smog friendly" place. Why are you paying so much for the pipe? Try here, it's where I got mine and it has the best price I could find.

ya i work for a smog ref here. as far as we are concerned we will only pass a car with the stock h pipe. the magnaflow is CARB legal yes, but they can only be used if the car is out of the CA required 8 year 80,000mile emissions warrenty and you must have concrete proof that you stock cats have failed.

I live in the bay area and in Los Angeles county.. I have magnaflow catted X.. great midpipe. It will pass the sniffer, just gotta find a cool gas station that will allow you to pass based on sniffer alone.

If you go to mustangexhaust.com and then click the link to Ninosport, you can get a X-pipe w/Cats for $420 , free shipping and no state taxes. I checked speedconcepts and they wanted $539 and that doesn't include shipping.I guess the previous post was talking about the Offroad X-pipe which is under $500
