The stock springs will not work with a 540 cam.

Do you know who made the cam you have?

The same company probably makes springs that go with the cam.

If you do not know the manufacturer, Comp Cams, Trick Flow, Ford Racing, Steeda are just a few who make springs.

Its a Comp cam

My step dad looked at the heads last night an told me the Springs were double springs.

So i imagine that double springs will be enough

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

.540 sounds kind of big for GT40 heads. Sounds like you are getting into the range of having to get your pistons fly cut. Anyone know how much lift you can go before you have to fly cut?

Yeah, kind of my bad too. I had totally missed that you had said "aluminum" GT-40 heads the first time I read your post. Sounds like you would be best of with a cam in the range of a Steeda #18.
