got a g4gt w/ cold air,76 mass air,70 tb, u/d pullies, mac high catted h pipe and mac exhaust w/ 373's in the back

i just picked up shorty equals, a prochamber no cats, ported and polished cobra manifold, ported gt40's w/ 1.7 rockers,

my questions are what cam should i get i know alotta ppl like the steeda 19 cam, how much of a gain would i see from a dyno tune, would it be worth it? if so then what more aggressive cam would you guys reccomend if i would be tuning, and do i need to bump up the injector size?

any hp predictions as well would b nice thanx

i think the steeda 19 or a trick flow 1 will work fine for ur mods. and as far as injectors i dont think u need them. run the car and see where ur at then u can figure if u need bigger inj.

You have asked a lot of Q's in this one post :D

I'll address the inj's first and say 19's won't support a mild h/c/i combo unless
you drive them with a good bit of pressure.

I myself don't care for that method :nono:
and
I like to tune as Ford does it with oem pressure :nice:

btw ... the oem fuel pump will not feed such a combo as well :(

One of the main reasons many peeps go with a custom tune is for dirvabilitly :)

Having said that, I would now address your cam Q.

Over the years, I've looked at a good many combos and read various comments
from many Stang owners. I do believe the Steeda 19 cam has been used by
many peeps who have had concerns for their pcm playing nice with a cam
change.

Another thing I've noticed is a good bit of the combos that have used the #19
cam seem to have the tendency to have a soft low end.

When it comes to using OEM stuff, the TFS 1 cam has produced some pretty
nice looking curves.

Then again ... it is not uncommon to see those who use it have drivability
issues :bang:

So ... as always ... things have to be considered and compromises
need to be made :fuss:

Summing up cams and pcm concerns ...............

Pick a cam to make power :nice:
Tune the pcm to take care of drivability issues ;)

To answer your Q about if and how much hp you would pick up with a custom
tune could only be answered with ... It Depends ... IMHO

If I was gonna use the heads and intake you have chosen ......
I'd go with the TFS cam and see how the drivability turns out to be

If its pretty good without a tune ... You might consider 24's and an afpr.

I'd also move the shortys and mid pipe over to some other Stang owner
and go with LT's because on a NA combo, they just make so much of a
difference with their ability to scavage the exhaust pulses which can't
happen with shortys.

The low end and mid range torque gains will be felt with the LT's :Word:

With the parts you listed ... I'd guess a range of 260 to 280 rwhp SAE :)

hes gonna be using the same heads and intake as the cobra, but ported and and bigger cam, so it will flow more than the cobra....they put 24# injectors in the cobra for a good reason...

Crower cam seems to be my favorite. They are about $400 custom grind to spec. $350 off the shelf. If you are going to use #19 cam then you will need different length pushrods. TFS stage1 cam has weak low end. ford E cam has nice balance but idle problem and will stall sitting in a traffic so play with your throttle is needed.

I'm just talking from my experience. Personally i liked the E cam sound the best.

some unsolicited advice ... get rid of the equal length shorty headers. they are much more trouble than they are worth. i had some before and they burned plug wires regularly and made it next to ipossible to get to the plugs.

Since you have 1.7 RR's, you could go for the CompCams XE270HR-12. It's made for the 1.7's and it'll deliver much better low rev torque than both the Steeda 19 and the E303. You'll need to upgrade the springs for the 0.544" lift and you might need to flycut the pistons (check the piston-to-valve clearance first).

ok thanx every 1 soo much for the help so far, i have narrowed it down to 3 choices, crane 2031, xe270 hr12, or the tfs 1, is it worth the money for the 270 even tho i have to upgrade the springs, what r the differences in idel and power band, and will i need to upgrade anything on ne of these other cams?

keep it comming guys,

thanx again steve
