If your spraying go with 30's. Driveability will be a lil worse with them, but you wont run out of injector. And plus your getting a tune.

but he wont run out of injector with a 24. So why get the 30's? especially when it would affect it negatively by making the driveability less then desireable

24's usually arent enough for a well built 30x combo, i know they wouldnt have been enough for mine. All cars are different though. A wet kit does add fuel, but with a 150-200 shot i would want the tune to be safe and not have to worry if your going to run out of injector. He also said he's getting a tune, so driveability wont be a problem.

So today I went to the engine builder to pick up my block. Pistons are now beautifully notched and ready to go. He notched them a little bit over in case I ever wanted to go bigger on the cam. He also checked my pushrod length and said it was between 6.25 and 6.30, he said it would be fine to run the stock ones.

This is my engine in my van. Me and a buddy awkwardly lifted the damn thing into the door opening. You can see the timing gear and chain marks in his chest from when it flipped over backwards and he just got underneath it and squatted it upwards...he is a beast lol

On the way to the engine builder(Coupe Performance in Covington, GA) the asian engine lift was taking a nap

And we repainted a bunch of stuff. I also polished the tensioner pulley, the egr valve and I am working on the t-stat housing

All mocked up, don't worry, I am painting the lower intake silver tomorrow.

Just because the pushrods are the right length does not mean that you can use them. You need harden pushrods because you have guide plates.

of what?? I have made no progress. I am waiting for my new KC clutch. 169 shipped on ebay!

Anyway, what is the best way to drop the engine with the heads on it already? I pulled it by putting in two headbolts in the block and wrapping a chain around them, and I threw away the stock engine hoist bracket things

The pistons are cut exactly where the valves hit. And it is not much deeper as it is wider than the stock reliefs

i'd use an accesory bolt for the front and stuff a bolt in the back of the block where the bellhousing bolts too.

i may have misunderstood what bolts you guys said but IMO the lower intake bolts are way too small to be hanging an engine from. especially when threaded into an aluminum head

It will be fine. Many people lift them by the intake. I work on transmissions so with FWD cars I have to hold up the engine with a brace when I drop the frame. Most of the time I use bolts in the intake to hold the engine and on many cars there are engine hooks that have maybe one or two bolts threaded into an aluminum head or intake. Keep in mind even some of the cheapest bolts need 2000 or more lbs of pressure to break.

From the way he worded his post, it sounds more like he was worried about it pulling the threads out. I agree though, you should be fine using the intake. Just make sure everything is attached correctly and your not trying to pick the engine up with a chain that looks like you could wear it or a couple of bolts barely threaded in. Good luck yO!
