I have 350 miles on my new motor and already want to get more aggressive cams! They sound great but I made the mistake of telling the guy over the phone I wasn't changing my springs. I ended up doing it anyway and think I should get something more aggressive.

I currently have:
2730 Street Performance, Mild race. Duration @ .050 230/230 Lift .500/.500 LSA 114. . 3.27-3.73 gears. Direct replacement for 92-98 SOHC. RPM range 1500-6000 with no valvetrain modifications.

I plan on getting these installed next saturday:
2760 Hot Street/Strip N/A Camshaft. Duration @ .050 242/232 Lift .550/.550 LSA 113. 3.27-4.10 gears, 2000+ stall converter, rough idle. RPM Range 2000-6500. Needs exhaust, intake. PI head.

Eventually I will be increasing my shot as well to more like 150-175. I'm open to ideas!

If you are keeping your stock heads I would get the VT wild or stage II cams. they seem to do better on a stock head. more lift less duration than the 2760's. seen some dyno data on them that made my head spin. 29hp on a stock gt. have never seen the 2760's pick up that much on a stock car.

hognutzYou should show that post to your wife. Maybe she'll buy you a pair of cams for your anniversary or something LOL.

On topic, though I would almost have to push the VT Stage II's also even though I have a set of Comps myself. I've almost thought about trying to sell them to get a set of VT Stage II's since they haven't been installed yet.

There is a reason that cam manufacturers list engine requirements for their various cams, namely the cams are designed to work with specific setups. If you ignore those recommendations, the results will be at best disappointing and at worst catastrophic. Too much lift can cause a valve spring to break and result in a valve dropping into the cylinder and punching a hole in the piston or block. A mismatch of engine components can result in your engine having less power than stock. The best thing to do is discuss your goals with the manufacturer, and follow their recommendations. :nice:

Well I've emailed all three of the companies you guys gave me and called two, modular depot didn't have a number on there site. What is sad is no one has replied to my email, nor called me back. I guess they don't want my money!

I finally got ahold of Tim at T&J earlier. They are going to get me a custom cam, mainly due to my compression :nice:

I didn't recieve your call  Our stage2 cams were designed for combinations like yours, with compression increase (to make up for the tight c/l). To make peak power #'s in naturally aspirated form, you should have tight c/l, because at higher rpms, the tight c/l will acutally help the engine breath. The overlap allows the exhaust to help pull in the intake charge.
