This spring im plannin a head swap for my car, and im gonna get the twisted wedges, and the spring upgrade. Im looking for a cam/intake combo that can rev to 6 or 6500, and not lose too much low end. I know thats asking alot , but if any1 has some ideas, post em up.

Lots of companies make Cams / intakes for the 5.0L

Comp Cams, Twisted Wedge, Crane, Isky, Custom, etc...

For intakes you have your choice of Ported stocker, Edelbrock, Explorer / GT-40 or Cobra and a few others that I am forgetting.

What displacment are you planning? 302, 331?

If your planning for stuff OTS you can pick up a Cobra Intake and the TFS1 cam. For minimal outlay of $$$

Edelbrock RPM, Holley Systemax, or a TFS Track Heat and a custom cam.

haha i should have been a little more specific, im building a 302. I have a b303 cam that i got for free, would it b a waste to put that in with the Trickflow heads and intake? I was planning on selling it and picking up another cam. Im just looking for some suggestions on a good OTS cam/intake combo.

I would use the TrickFlow cam since you are going with the heads (from TF.) For an intake you will still have the same choices that I listed above....

BTW: Before anyone else beats me to it. "Some like the B cam while others hate it"

wouldn't it be great if when you chose a company for heads that company also made intake and cams?? that way someone else has already done all the swappin parts and guesswork that way... you know that the parts you buy are made for eachother??

thats my way of saying... trickflow heads, intake and cam... my $.02

...and you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you're serious about making peak power up in the 6000-6500 range out of naturally aspirated 300 cubes -- it's gonna be pretty soft on the bottom end. For us older guys, one like that ain't much fun as a daily driver on the street. BTW, the factory ecu stops the fun at 6250 rpm, so if you want to rev past that, you'll need to alter the ecu via chip, tweecer, pms, etc.

Ported GT40, AFR165s and a custom cam. Should be stronger than stock all through the rpm range.

Most off the shelf cams would probably do you just fine. Maybe not the best for ultimate power, but will work well on a street brawler, especially if you look at the cost.

For the intake I would only suggest staying away from the short runner/box uppers. The loss of low end would probably not be acceptable to you.

I would go with the TFS heads which it sounds like you are going with and a Stage 1 TFS cam. You never said if your car was injected or carbureted??? Either way I would go with this combo. When I was injected this combo worked great for me. The intake I used when I was injected was the Performer RPM. Now that I'm carbureted I use the Air Gap Intake.
