I am going to be buying a Comp Cams XE264HR cam, plus new lifters and a new timing chain. I was going to buy them from Summit - Comp cam XE264HR $246.00, Ford lifters $120.00, and a Comp timing chain $40.00, totaling approximately $406.00. Or I could buy the Comp Cams cam/lifter kit $445.00, and the Comp Cams timing chain $40.00, totaling approximately $485.00 Or I could buy the Comp Cams cam/lifter/timing chain/valve springs for $658.00 My question is - do I need to use the Comp lifters with the Comp cam? Ford lifters are $120 and the Comp lifters are around $200. Is the stuff in the kit any better than parts you can buy separately, or are they counting on people buying the kits to be sure everything works together?

The 264 has good lobe profiles, but they aren't severe.

The FRPP lifters are good.
RedBlur had a set of Comps explode when riding on his XE274HR cammed stroker. I don't know if his lifters weren't adjusted properly, but I had heard that Comp was selling a bad batch there

I would buy seperately and get the Ford lifters.
