I just bought some pi heads from a 99 mustang gt for my 98 mustang gt and i want to get some good cams in place of the pi ones that came with them. I removed the cams and i want to sell them on ebay. I was wondering if the gear on the cams which the timing chain goes on comes with the new aftermarket ones im getting. It doesnt look like it can be removed from the cams i have now but i didnt really try to hard because i dont want to break something. :bs:

sorry to but in on your post but do the cams in the NPI heads are the cam gears fixed to the cams?? or are they removable also? Just wanted to know because I want to go with a set of comp cams in my NPI heads??? Thanks!

cam gears

I don't know about all GTs but I was under the impression that all GTs had the cam gears pressed on(may be wrong). My bullitt has them bolted on and the gears can be reused. If the gears look pressed on they will have to be replaced. If I remember correctly the gears are less than $100, somewhere about 50-60. Hope this helps.

96-98 and 01 up the gears are bolted on , only 99-00 ( Windsor ) are pressed on. You can buy a gear kit for $69.95 here ! .

You can get some nice 2750 Stage II here but I'll have to check cause when you use PI heads on a Non PI engine you will raise the compression ( piston dish is different ) so clearence can be a issue if you raise the lift but like I said I'll have to check on this.
