The only thing I have heard about those comps is PTV...I don't know if they got the issue worked out or not. I've read about a lot of people that have had PTV problems and a lot of people that have not. I don't think it's going to make a huge difference in your 1/4 mile time...I'm not sure about the power gains on the Comps but I have heard of power gains of 40+ hp on the VT stage 2's with other proper engine modifications.

Yea, VT stg 2s will make more power N/A vs the comps. With a tune, they generally gain about 10RWHP more than the VT stg 1s with a tune for a total of 40RWHP. But both the 270s and stg 2s WILL LOOSE LOWEND POWER below around 4K. In normal driving the car will "feel" slower. I belive the VT sgt 1s are the only that retain lowend power and then start powering away at around 3500. To answer your Q, VT stg 2s will win in the 1/4 over the 270s....but the margine would be very small. JMO.

I am also trying to decide. I will use modified non-pi heads with the spring seats cut for higher lift. I have used comp cams and crane cams for the 302. I had better results with crane. Crane cams use higher lift than others. VT II's are the cam of choice for the 2v shoot out last month in MMFF. Crane part no Part Number: 379631 is a .600 lift 236/242 @.050 cam. Very radical. hp's going out of style. I will probaly stick to crane. I expect real problems with drivability, but that's HI-PO life.

From what I have heard, the average is anywhere from 20 to 30+ hp.

unless you have headwork there really isn't much power difference between the two cams. now after some headwork, that's where the VT stage 2's really start to shine.

i'm at 280rwhp & 307rwtq with my vt stage 1's. it's not the most anyone has ever made with the stage 1's, but i'm happy with it. & the car is strong through the whole power band

what size injectors are you going with? I was thinking of doing that when i put on the mph 2.5's and vt st2's. I'm thinking 24lber's should do the trick?
