I thought I might get more feedback over here...

1994 Mustang GT 5 speed

Sitting in the garage ready to bolt on:
65mm throttle body
94 Cobra intake
GT-40P heads [5 angle valve job w/ 1.94 intake/1.54 exhaust]
Mac Ceramic coated GT-40P headers 1 5/8" diameter
255lph in tank fuel pump

Already installed:
Off-road "X" pipe
K&N air filter

My plan was to leave in the stock camshaft and just go with 1.7 roller rockers, but the guys at the local dyno are convincing me to go with a cam too.

This will be my primary street car and I want good driveability. I'm leaning towards the Trick Flow stage 1 cam. It seems pretty mild and is a good price shipped from Summit, but it seems designed specifically for the trick flow heads.

What would be a good off the shelf low budget cam?
Can I still use the 1.7 RR's with it?
Am I really going to realize much more horsepower adding a cam in addition to the 1.7 RR's?

I run the Stage 1 with iron Windsor Jrs. and it runs very strong. Great sounding idle, broad powerband and good vacuum.
Nice combo for a daily driver/occassional strip.

I actually considered an E-303 earlier on, but the Trick flow is cheaper and from what I understand the E-303 lobe profile is a bit dated. The Trick Flow is a more modern design [Read that as higher tech design.]

How would it work with the 1.7 rockers or should I just stick with the 1.6 rockers?

Be careful with the 94 processor unless a chip is in your planning. I always classified the 94-95 processors like the speed density processors. They don't like lsa's of anything less than 114. The XE 270 is a good cam as is the crower. Just watch the LSA. The E-303 has an lsa of 110. Caused one of my A9L processors to even 'hunt.' I admit, every car is different, but the LSA is the typical problem - not the duration as some people would have you to believe... Just my .02 cents....

If your willing to spend a bit under $200 dollars extra getting a custom cam would be nice from www.flowtechinduction.com for example. There are other good custom grinders as well.

I would still with 1.6 RR's with the TFS1 cam...

Thanks... That's good advice. I never really understood what the lobe separation was all about, and how it affects our cars. I was warned about our computers today by the owner of the local dyno. He was saying that I might have to get some computer tweeking done. I will look for cams with a lobe separation greater than 114. What about the 1.7 roller rockers?

Yeah... The more I read, the more I like this cam. I wonder if it will work with the Crane 1.7 Rockers I want to add to the list, or should I just stick with 1.6 rockers. Any suggestions?
