Hey guys, I bought a used Comp Cams XE270HR-14 cam for my 94, but realized it never came with any dowel pin to align with the gear on the timing chain. Can I just use the dowel pin from the stock cam I pulled out? If so, how the hell do I get it out without scoring the **** out of it with pliers? It's in there pretty snug, so I don't know how to get it out without ruining it. Any suggestions?

the shop took my stock cam out when i got it machined. i didnt have a pin for the exact cam u have and went to a local shop and they gave me the pin. it was the longer one that he had.

well from what i've read, because of the fact that we don't have the fuel pump eccentric or w/e it is, we don't need the longer dowel pin (correct me if i'm wrong), but the shorter one, so yeah any ideas of where to obtain this or the exact measurements???

The crane 2031 came with a short and a long dowel, I don't remember why but I used the short dowel.

Yes its all about the mechanical pump drive.

It is fairly thick so it requires a longer pin

Since we don't have that drive we typically use a shorter pin

The short one is the one you need for '80-newer blocks. (Thanks to Rick)

The needed short one is 1.125" or 1-1/8". (Thanks to Methodical)

I read that some guys were able to get the old one's out and use them. If you end up needing a new one, I would call Comp or Crane.
