Well I have been doing research on cams recently for the 2v mod engine. I have read some good articles in modular depot. They say cams add good power and torque to a basic stock GT or supercharged. And the stock ECU will work with the aggresive cam. I am not sure just want to know who is running with cams installed and are they satisfied. Any info would be great, would like to make good gains without supercharging and affordable if possible.

Quite a few guys on the board, including Nickthegenius... GT2000Jay, etc.

You can expect to see typically close to 25rwhp gain and lopey idle which is oh such a sweet sound.

I don't have them, but they are a great mod. Expect 20 - 30 hp increase or even more. Sound awsome too. Expensive though. Figure at least $1000 with installation. You need a tune with them even if it is a mail order tune. Some of the "entry level" cams are fine with a mail order tune, but you need a dyno tune with more agressive ones. This adds to the cost. Also, with more agressive cams you need different valve springs which add another $200 for parts and even more labor. That can run close to $2000 if you include the tune with a professional instal. This is why most guys do heads at the same time. What's another $2000 for heads when everything is already opened up when already spending so much money?

Those prices are a just little over the top, but you get the idea it's not cheap.

Much cheaper of course when you do things yourself. You're just going to need a wideband A/F to tune your car if you don't want to spend the money on a dyno tune.

Im also thinking about getting cams. Either VT Engines stage 1 or Comp Cams. I want to be able to use the stock valve springs, and I want to do the install myself. I also dont want a cam that will make the whole house shake when I turn the car on. My car is already loud enough with my LT's, o/r h, and magnapacks. Theres pretty much zero chance of a supercharger in the future, but there is a good chance of nitrous probably a 100 shot of NX. Can anyone recomend a cam that would be good for me?
