Can a head/cams 2valve outrun a bolt on 4valve

Slightly retarded question and scenario but ... the 4v revs higher and breathes better so he would be able to run the gear out a little bit longer while the 2v is shifting.

Well the 2v would weigh a little bit less and the 4.10 gears are a better gear for the 2v. The 4v would need 4.30s or maybe higher to get the same type of performance. They will both produce power higher in the RPM band and the torque on the 2v will change from the cams.

my guess would have to be with the 2v, but only cause the weight issue. still that's only a guess

Otherwise=cars...........Higher redline in the 4v = more time in gear and on the gas for whatever length of a run.

Not quite.....both cars make their power in different areas. The 2V tends to make a little more grunt down low, where the 4V likes to rev it out up-high. Even if the 2V had a better reaction time, it's entirely possible that the 4V could run him down at the top of each gear.VTEngine said:The red car?

Stock for stock, the 4V's heads still breath considerably better....but you ain't gonna make 320hp on a 2V without doing some serious work to the heads anyway. Tough call either way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but both cars shift the exact same number of gears, with the same trannys.
So, the 2V even, with a bumped up rev limiter to 6.5k would shift to 4th probably about 2 sec sooner than the 4v. I don't know about you guys but my car pulls a heck of a lot harder in 3rd than in 4th.
So, the 4v would spend less total time in 4th gear(1:1) and more time in 1-3 due to the higher revs, which should allow him to use the increased distance in the lower ratio gears to give him better acceleration.

The dyno of the 2v will have the power band looking totally different than a stock headed 2v. The would be all power in the upper RPMs and depending on what cams, the torque would peak in the midrange a lot later.
and serious work would equal a stage II head correct? no, that isnt serious work.

If you care to read it again, I dismissed my previous statement about the two of them making different powerbands after I touched on the fact that a 320hp 2V wouldn’t fall under stock characteristics anyway. I dunno about you, but I’d consider ported heads and a cam swap a start to some pretty serious mods, wouldn’t you?So, basically….you call me stupid and then you agree with me? You really need to just let things go and think before you speak some times and lose that chip on your shoulder.

I hate downtime at the track for broken Cobras
In all reality, it would be a driver's race especially since the 4v wouldn't have the optimum gearing.
