Yeah F4 would mean 94 or later. I was told on another forum that it's out of a 94 t-bird or cougar 3.8l 4r70w same as aode. Which works for me because the 4R70W is the best of the AOD tranny family, good to 300-350 HP as it sits, good to 500+ with a shift kit & cooler. Just need to get a second job to be able to buy a Baumann controller
Yes it'll bolt up to any windsor engine. The 3.8 has the same bolt pattern as the V8. I have a 97 3.8L T5 (same torque specs as the 93 and earlier V8 T5's) in my other 66 coupe. I used the 3.8 bellhousing, a 164 tooth flywheel, and King Cobra clutch in that car with only minor issues, due mostly to the relocated clutch fork. The same applies to the auotmatic as long as the correct flexplate diameter and balance is used, which happens to be the same as the AOD setup. I wouldn't even be putting this in the car as I have another complete 97 T5 setup, but it's the wife's car and she wants to keep it an automatic
Sweet, ya I'm back and forth on what I want to do on mine. I have everything to do the AOD swap but I really want a T5, just have no cash. Sucks to have 3.80's and no OD!!
I was in the same boat. 3.80's and a C4 made highway driving "fun". Couldn't even hear the the stereo....
I went throught the same thing with trans choice. I have two AOD's and the 4r70w but wanted the T5. Then I picked up the second coupe and the wife "stole" it from me At least I have a use for one of the automatics.
manuals may be fun...but I've never found one that will shift as fast and hard as what my AOD does....really excited to finish a 351C and put it in front of that
