CAN BAD INJECTORS, CAUSE SEVERE LOSS IN POWER?

well the car was running pretty good with the 19# injects, but had idling problems because the previous owner had a mass air meter (calibrated for 24# injects) So, I installed my old 24# injects on this weekend. The car does not have a surging idle anymore, but it idles a lil high (900), but it is very weak in power at WOT. It feels like a compression loss when I hit the gas pedal, but I know my compression is good because I tested it before I installed the injectors and I know the upper intake manifold is on really good too. I also put on a new 24# mass air meter by Pro-M.

If some of these injectors are bad could that be causing the problem of a severe loss in power?

Yes... it could. jrichker has a checklist for running the the injector load test. Do a forum search to find it and run the test. Should tell you which (if any) injectors are bad. Have you already pulled codes?

this has to be the most ambiguous answer to a thread ever. LOL. yes what? i thought you were REI posting to say he had done code pulling. :) i must need sleep. :)

REI, while pulling codes, do as Daggar said - it is called a cylinder balance test. it will run the injectors through a test - if it fails, it retests up to 2 more times using different criteria to determine how well the injectors are working. neat test.

thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it :)

I am going to go to autozone and buy a analog voltimeter now. I have a feeling it is my injectors. That means a have to deal with that pain in the a.. intake manifold gasket. well thanks again.

do you have a SD car?

i would not worry about what it might be till ya know. good luck bud.

Hissin: I think you do need some sleep :) ...REI said in the first post "the previous owner had a mass air meter (calibrated for 24# injects)"...

Were the injectors new?

i saw that. i could not figure out why he would need an analog VOM unless he had a SD car (no functioning CEL; analog VOM helps to pull codes with no CEL). i was just trying to figure out more info and reasoning for what was being done.

I figured you would have seen it...you read into more than I did...I guess I'm "simpler" minded than you :(
