hognutz said:with you mods you have no advantage to a higher redline. most cars actaully will have a quicker et shifter more in the 55-5800 range. so rasing the limiter from 6k means you may not bump it if you lose traction but it will not increase you et unless you do cams/intake mods to raise your powerband.
having the shifts lower in the band is sometimes better. you need to post in what rpm's the shift were at. for example if the old tune shifted at 5900 and the new tune shifted at 5700 without running it down the track or some kind of baseline you don't know if that is helping or hurting. you have to remeber a tuner is only good for a few hp. it is not a night and day mod. Also the fact you don't know exactly what was on the car before mean it may have had some timing in it already or something.

vld said:the old tune shifted at red line at WOT for the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. i am getting ready to lower the rev limiter and likely the shift points as well. already pulled timing down to 8.5 from 10% because of pinging. dataloged today but cant make too much of it yet. i know what all was logged just not sure how to put it all together yet. i know that without a dyno and/or a wideband (not to mention some experience) there is only so much i can do but i intend to do as much as i can. thanks for the info btw!![]()

I have a quick question. If I purchased a used car that had an aftermarket tune( unknown company and cannot be returned to stock ) and then purchased a Predator for that car. What would happen if I attempted to use the predator. Car in question would be an 02 Mustang GT.
Dear ...,
The predator should not load, if it did it could damage the ECU or engine since the predator is adding to parameters that already might be maximized.
Thank you for your interest in DiabloSport!
Stay tuned,

vld said:If my Ec does not have the stock tune how will Diablo react? Will it simply read the existing tune as the stock tune or will it show a that the stock tune has been modified. I do not know that my stock tune has been modified but I appear to have 3.55s in the rear and the speedo reads right so i guess that indicates that there has been some change there. Side note: I have the Predator en route, should be here today!

TGJ said:I am glad that the Predator is working out for you. However, after reading this question and the answers you received here, you would have been better off contacting Diablo with this question and get the proper answer from the proper source. I think you got off lucky!
TGJ said:Now every single one of you that said it should not cause any problems, QUIT POSTING TECH, all you are going to do is cause someone who listens to you to possibly lose their motor.![]()
jstreet0204 said:When you spend a few years learning all of the parameters in the EEC and how they work, then you can tell someone to stop posting tech. As I stated earlier, it would be no different than modifying any performance tune, including the one that comes with the predator. Do a search in the saleen forums there are plenty of them that use the xcal with the modifed saleen tune. As far as someone losing their motor, if you don't know what you are doing, you shouldn't be doing it. And in no way will adding to "maximized" values hurt the EEC. They are simply values stored in database tables. Could it hurt the engine? Yes, but if you know your fuel or timing may already be modified, you'd have to be a dumb ass to go in and push the all of fuel and timing all the way up with out knowing where you stand. If you don't have any more common sense than that, you need to do yourself a favor and just get a chip. As far as if it will load it or not, he still didn't give you a definative answer. So I looked it up for you. If you have a modified flash tune you will need to go to a ford dealership and have them reflash the eec with the stock tune and go from there. The xcal2 does not however require it to be reflashed so that may be a better option for some.
their word means bull5hit until you buy their product, diablsport sucks, they don't even come into the 4.6 section but are here for the S197 guys.TGJ said:I will take THEIR WORD REGARDING THEIR PRODUCT over YOURS everyday day of the week, twice on sunday.

. so now i am burning out the last of the reg, i'll fill her up with 93 and reinstall the tune and see what happens. still have no idea how the 3.55s are dialed in, cant find a speedcal, at least not in the center console. monday i am going to call the local dealer and see what he has to say about dialing in gears. thanks for all the help yall.Hmmm, I have a serious problem with that. I am getting more and more likely to buy SCT when I buy...tomustang said:they don't even come into the 4.6 section but are here for the S197 guys.![]()
