All,
New to the site here. First let me apologize if there is some older post about the same problems, I haven't had much time to search thru all of the older post.
I have a '74 Datsun 260Z with a 347 stroker and EFI that was brought to Japan in 2005 and was only driven about 200 miles and then sat for about 3 or 4 years. Before it was parked, everything was NEW! Seriously, a project car, $20K, 50% finished, MAYBE 1,000 miles total and it has been sitting for years.
Since then I have divorced, remarried, had my first child (at age 39), and started my 3 tour-of-duty in Japan. It might be a mid-life crisis, but now I've decided to register this car in Japan. Wifey said that we need a second vehicle?!?
My problem is that now the car will not start. Big suprise? So, new battery, oil and fresh gas. It has spark, fuel pressure and oil pressure. But it seems that the fuel injectors are not "injecting" fuel. Cranked the engine over several times. The spark plugs are not wet, they don't smell like fuel and there is no smell of fuel at the tail pipe. When I blead the fuel out of the rails there was old fuel in the fuel rails that didn't really smell like fuel anymore. A co-worker (fellow gearhead) said to soak the injectors in fuel injector cleaner which I did today.
Now my question is: Is the injectors the cause of the problem and is there any hope of saving them by soaking them in Fuel Injector Cleaner? Will it damage the plastic connector or the rubber o-rings?
Thanks,
Mark
