i just ordered a new booster for my 5.0 i ordered a 95 cobra one and they offered 2 a hydroboost and a vacuum so im sure it can be done
Can hydroboost be used on a 5.0 engine?

i am in process of doing a 2v 4.6 in a 1990 coupe. to make the swap painless, and have power brakes you must use the hydroboost from 1996-2004 stangs. when ford put the Mod Motor in the Fox-4 platform the big bulky vacume booster will not clear the valve cover. even the 4-cyl booster is too large. all the holes but one line up, and you can use the stock fox rack, but the pumps are not interchangable, from what i have seen. i am going from a 4cyl... so i am sure there is a MAJOR difference.
Also to do the 4.6 swap you need a 1996+ K-member, or something aftermarket. I am using a 2004 Mach K-member. you must trim some from the rear mounts, and enlongate the holes. It positions the engine in the right spot.
I am also swaping the ENTIRE harness from a 1998 GT. Also the dash, ABS everything. The engine i am using is from my old 1996 P71 Crown Vic. stock bore NPI block, PI heads, cams, intake, 70mmTB acufab plenum 80mm MAF. should run ok. made a 4100lb sedan run 13.90's.

Yes you can, Its not fun
but it can be done. take a look at my profile photos. I got my hydro booster from a 99 Cobra, along with all the lines, I also used the 4.6 power steering pump which makes it easier to hook up the lines. I would say make try to buy the hydro boost and lines from 1 car to make sure you have everything. Suprisingly everything fits quit well with very little modifications.

Yes you need to oblong the holes in the fire wall.
If you get a hydro boost with 4 studs in the back just cut or knock that third bold out and use the 3 just like the stock vacum.
As far as needing to use hydro boost peddle set up.... You dont need to, All you need to do is cut the hoop off of the back of the hydro booster, and also cut the hoop off of the stocker vacum booster and weld that onto the hydro booster, that way it will bolt up to the stock peddel.
Yes you can use the stock rack, and the lines bolt strait to it.

How does the power steering pump work from the 99 Cobra? Any modifications needed to mount the pump in the stock housing on the 1993 5.0 bracket?

What did this cost in total?
Thanks, that is great information! So just get the hydroboost, power steering pump, and the master cylinder? OR just the hydroboost and power steering pump from an 84 Continental? What about the lines to connect everything?

Wow... did not know that. According to Advance Auto the hydro boost came on the 1982 - 1989 Continental and the 1984 - 1989 Mark VII. Did you use the Lincoln MC?
Is there an advantage to running hydroboost on a 5.0?
I thought it was to save space with the mod motors.
One more thing. You will need a rack and pinion from a hydroboost car. I don't know what you would do twith the power steering though. Custom hookup to that.

Just an FYI, the Mark VII only had hydroboost in '84 and early '85, after that they were all electronic ABS units. My '84 parts car has the full system still intact, so I can get some pics and info if needed.
