I am about to purchase an x-pipe without cats from Dr. Gas and I am just curious if a novice in the garage will be able to swipe out the stock H with cats to this new setup, while adding the MIL eliminators: Is it something I should even attmept or just bite the bullet and have to pay someone to install? All advice is appreciated!

Yes, you can do it in your garage. Just make sure you have some extensions and swivels ready. Taking hte stock H-pipe is a pain, but installing the new one is a breeze. Just make sure you have some penetrating oil on the manifold bolts. That will make your life easier. I like PB Blaster from Autozone.

If you can find someone with a compressor your golden. You'll need a really good jack to jack the car up and some tall jack stands. Have a mini as i like to call it flame thrower as well for the rusted bolts if the PB blaster doesn't work.

It should be no problem doing it on your own if you plan on clamping the Dr. Gas together. They're better off welded though.
If you've got a welder(and know how to use it) Get it bolted up with clamps, then pull it back out and weld 'er up.
If you don't have a welder, you might want to have a shop do it. You can still get it clamped on your own then take it to them to weld. Then your shop cost won't be so high.
If you're set on that pipe...do anything you can to get it on your car...it's awesome!

Did you say Dr. Gas? Then no, you won't be able to do it. Dr. Gas comes in peices that need to be welded up. Unless you have a welder and are skilled in that area, forget it.
Now, of you had another X-pipe like a UPR, Magnaflow, Bassani, etc that come pre-assembled, then yes you could easily install it in your garage. I did.

I decided to save myself some headache and have a professional shop install it and the MILs... for 20$, it was well worth it (no leaks!)

100% in agreeance. I had to take mine to a muffler shop to get it welded together. I cant see doing it without a welder unless DRGAS has improved their design. Mine only came with the crossover and no pipes so the shop had to finish the build. This was almost 4 years ago though.

Actually if you go to www.mustang-exhaust.com, you can now buy a Dr.Gas X-Pipe fully assembled. Just buy that and do it yourself with the advice that people have already given. Good Luck
