well my h/c/i is next. but i dont have a ton of money so i am doing a budget h/c/i. but i want around 300whp. I have all the supporting mods so far. they are in my signature. my question is with gt-40 heads, e-cam, and cobra intake can i make around 300 whp? which gt-40 heads will do this? port and polish?

They should. depends on the port job. if you have someone who does good port work there is no reason it shouldn't. someone told me tri state cylinder head was selling gt40 p heads for 450 new. you might want to check that out. you will need mac long tube headers or another p compatible header to run them though

Yes they need special headers. His sig shows Ford Racing headers. Ford only makes 2 shorty headers. But I think they both work with "p" heads. The FMS-M-9430-P50 are the ones I have, the other ones are ceramic coated and are quite a bit more in price. I bought my GT40P heads from Tri State Cylinder Head in Evansville Indiana. $450 a pair. New castings and new parts. .600 lift springs and a 5 angle valve job. So to answer the original question I would go with the "P" heads.

They have a website www.tristatecylinderhead.com but they don't list the GT40P head and they don't have online ordering. I called them on a Monday and got them the next Monday. But I also only live 2 1/2 hrs up the highway from them. I had them delivered to my door for $504 and that was with sales tax because I live in the same state as them. They build them when you order.

300rwhp with GT40 heads, ecam, and cobra intake....I don't know about that....I don't doubt 300fwhp though. 300hp at the wheels is pretty big number for stock compression and GT40 heads. That combo is good for low 12's with the right set up though.

I have seen enough 280-300 rwhp GT40P, stock cam, Cobra intake cars to say with the right port job, well over 300 rwhp is attainable. Port them, valve job, and mill them, will cost a bit but will net you the 300+ hp on a healthy motor!

wow i'm so confused by that.

of course you can do 300 w/ iron's , no problem at all

stay w/ the 40's not "p"'s

deck them to raise compression a little, port the exhaust and just have the intakes cleaned up , remove the "bump" and comp valve job

my buddy went 11.80 w/ box stock 40 intake and iron 40's ported like that and 125 shot.

and low 12's is 300 hp....so if it's good for low 12's...it's good for 300 hp

don't pay more than $300 for the heads , and the port work should run you $300-$450
