I'd say you'd better just buy a whole new motor
I believe you're thinking of the tail shaft seal. The rear main is a whole nother story.red- said:why would u have to drop the tranny to do a rear main seal? i thought u just had to remove the driveshaft?

technically you could do it w/o 'dropping the tranny' - unbolt the motor and pull the motor instead.red- said:why would u have to drop the tranny to do a rear main seal? i thought u just had to remove the driveshaft?

you must not know me too well - i often have 'my tongue firmly planted in my cheek,' as i think Michael Yount put it once (in reference to a comment i made, much like this one).1991vert said:in his garage with "basic tools" i doubt he could pull the motor. easiest way o tackle this would be to get a haynes manual and drop the tranny/clutch/flywheel and go for it. it fixed my leak, then i got another from the low oil sensor...![]()
