Hello all,
well, like the post reads i need to know if i can start my car without the transmission in it. I blew the Tremec T-5Z, so i removed the tranny and the clutch. I left the flywheel on the car so that wont be an issue, but my question is more about the neutral safety switch. Is that one of the things I unplugged from the tranny when I removed it or is it located on the clutch pedal. When i put the clutch pedal to the floor will the car start.

Basically I'm not going to be able to afford to fix the car until spring and I'm concerned with not being able to start the car for 6 months. And I'd hate to put the starter and h pipe back in just to find out the car won't start anyway.
I appreciate your guys help with this.

Agreed.... Put some fuel stabilizer in the tank, bleed the rails, and leave it till you're ready.

I'm not saying you can do it but you see those people with the engine dyno's running straight off the headers vented outside and no tranny. Must be possible. The clutch start switch is on your clutch pedal.

I wouldn't worry too much about 6 months. Just put fresh gas in the tank with Stabil in it and your battery on a tender with the battery not sitting directly on concrete. Should fire right up when it's time.

Thanks guys. When the tranny broke i had almost a full tank of VP 100 octane in the car so it should be ok. I'll add some stabil just to be safe. The battery is fully charged and unhooked and i took the belt off the supercharger. I'm still a bit worried about the engine not turning over till spring but if you guys think it'll be fine I'm not going to worry about it.

Mine has sat for about 7 months every winter for the past 14 years, albeit in a heated garage. Starting it and not running it long enough to boil off any condensation is a much greater worry.

To answer your question directly yes. Bell housing on . N safety harness jumped or plugged in . AS these guys said its not an issue that you need to start it .
