With the mods on my sig? I know it's pretty mild, but I'm wondering if it'll be worth my while to spin the motor past 5200 rpm. It'll be a while for I make it to the track (still on break in), but I'm curious.
yeah i would shift at/near 6 ...but u are the only one that can tell where to shift....u have to experiment with your shift points to see where u get teh best times. and where u think your car dies out.
The 302/5.0 is a short stroke motor, so it's not the bottom end which has the problem. The only thing is that the valves tend to float after 5600rpm's and the stock heads and intake don't have the flow to make any real power. The stock harmonic balancer/dampener is only rated up to 4500rpm's also. That is why when mine went bad I got a Romac. I can tell a difference at higher rpms.
