I need some advice guys,,I have a set of Thumpers awaiting to go on.I want to add a Kenne Bell. But my main bearings are sounding a little noisy, and I have hyper.... pistons which suck with boost. Im thinking of buying a short block and putting the Thumpers on and using the stock cam because it is a good blower cam, and great low end torque!! My question is can I use the cam and heads with a 331?Or will the longer stroke hurt the cam? Im not looking for suggestions for a better cam or anything so dont flame me for using the stock cam. Thanks

It is an excellent low-torque cam like you said, but like the stock heads, it will probably start falling flat on its face at i'm guessing 4k RPMs. The 331 will already require more airflow, and then to add a blower and tell it to push even more air is a hefty task for only a .444 lift w/ 1.6 rockers. Should have some serious low grunt though..

first off.. that question just sounds silly. why put that kind of money into a motor and then stuff it with a stock cam?

dude, atleast a FMS Xcam.

Maybe I will just go with a 302 or 306 then!! It will fall flat that early,,4000rpm?

Ditto the above except I feel the thumper ported stock heads are going to be the limiting factor on a 331 instead of the cam. They should run fine on a AOD 306 setup with a mild torque cam similiar to my Crane 2030.

Why go flat? Get a good dished, with a C/R of around 8.5-9: 1
