My wife really dislikes riding in my 06 mustang! She is tiny and does not like sitting so low, nor does she like sitting on pillows. I had posted a while back on how to raise the seats, but we could not come up with a way to do it safely. Is there a way to raise the seat? The problem is she is only 5 foot tall, so if I raise it up for good, no one else will be ok with riding with me...I was going to call prestige mustangs and see if they had a passenger seat that had an adjustable feature from a later car--did they come with that feature or would I have to mod a drivers seat?
Second: I have been planning an epic road trip for us when the kids go off to college. My wife just informed me she doesn't want to take the mustang because in addition to the seat, she feels claustraphobic (sp). Do they still have glass roof in stalls for earlier stangs? I think it was cdc who had it, I will check. I am not going to do these mods soon (unless the seat is easy), but I would like to get them on the wish list...
thanks guys,
Doc

im not so sure about these new cars, but on the fox body cars i had a friend of mine make me some billet aluminum spacers to put under the seat mounts. i never liked how the seats in those cars were tilted way back so the spacers brought the seat more level. i don't know if something like that would work on the new cars. but it's a simple trial and error.

as for the roof, i am not sure you will want to cut your roof to install the glass or not. i have never liked the idea of aftermarket sunroofs or t-tops and that's essentially the same thing just your top won't open. anytime you cut factory metal and replace it with glass and rubber seals you take a huge chance of it leaking. i would not recommend this mod. i would leave the roof alone. but this is just my opinion, as i am sure you will get other's that say it's ok.

My wife is the same way with the seats. I just bought a new 2012 GT and the only two stipulations she put on the purchase was the comfort package and all-weather mats. Good luck finding a solution. I've been married long enough to know that when the wife isn't happy, nobody's happy.

It would near imposible to raise the passenger seat, you would have to fabricate 4 new brackets, all different.
A good machine shop could probably make it happen.

Convert to power seats......either find a seat rack from a wreck or call Ford.

Wouldn't hurt to call Ford and confirm the GT and V6 seat racks would work.

Once she can see over the dash and door sill, the claustrophobic feeling may go away.

holy smokes, you don't know my wife! She wouldn't go for a vert, actually I wouldn't either. I keep the car on the road until salt goes down, it is cold here in maine! Maybe they are better than the last time I had a convertable....it was a while ago. I am looking into the other options. I would not want to get rid of my car unless it was wrecked, then I'd still try to keep it!
thanks guys,
Doc

Unfortunately, we no longer carry the Glassback roof for 2005-2009 Mustangs. Hopefully everything works out and your wife begins to love the fact that you own one sweet pony car!

Ha, my wife said the same thing.

Have you looked into changing the seats to the powered seats yet?
Found these on eBay :http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-08-MUSTANG-POWER-SEATS-/390118402731

The passenger seat is manual in that eBay listing...

But the power seat base sounds like a good idea. It allows you to raise the seat like 3 inches. I hate it when my wife drives, then I get in cause I have to lower it all the way down. She always has it raised all the way up, and my head is smashed into the roof.

Ha, just went for a ride in my car as a passenger and the passenger seat is manual. Have to admit I did not pay attention to the passenger seat.

I wounder if there are electric passenger seats? Maybe one of the manual drivers seats with the height adjustment will fit on the passenger side? I had a manual driver seat in my 2008 Mustang and it had a manual height adjustment.

Yes....Ford made electric passenger seats. I had it in my '07 GT Premiun Vert. Just search and you will eventually find them.

haha no, the Glassback was completely leak-proof. That was definitely not an issue! Essentially the reason we discontinued the Glassback was simply because there wasn't enough demand for it from '05-'09 Mustang owners. Ford now offers the glass roof as a factory option so we're not gaining any new customers for that product with the new model year, either.

Why would I trade in a wife who took pictures of me ordering my super charger, a video of it being delivered and pictures of me with the boxes?
She also does not understand why I don't want to upgrade to a boss 302 or a shelby. How great is it to have a wife who TELLS you to buy one of these cars??
Superchager came yesterday, I can't put it on for three weeks due to my travel schedule! Life is funny sometimes!
