Can this be fixed?? Broken t-5 case PIC

I have an opportunity to buy a t-5 from a 1989 with all the necessary pieces to convert my AOD minus computer and pedals for $250

But now that I go see it I, I see this sheet

should I just spend my $$ elswhere or but this thing

He was in a head on collion and is now parting the car out

It might be weldable but I wouldn't chance it.

you got a tig welder?

I will warn you welding these things is a pain (I hate welding cast AL)


better make sure he is selling it cheap

the thing I would want to know is how it broke (droped or solid mounts + high power, if its been beaten on it could be on it's last leg)

You can also find a new (not broken) tail housing...that would fix it.

I also agree...should be sold pretty cheap..

yes it can be fixed.. you'll have to have it welded..

You can definitely weld that.

Where are you from. I have a T5 sitting at my house that the internals are shot but the case is still good. I live in south east michigan. Let me know.

It can be welded, but I would recommend having an expert do it. I don't think you need a TIG, but a MIG will do the trick. Provided you have the correct wire, etc... A TIG would be the best way, but...

It can be welded easily.

It would be even easier to buy a used tailhousing for $15 or ebay or in the classifieds and just swap it. 4-bangers and 5.0's have the same tailhousing.

Yes that can be fixed. I would be more concerned about damage to the internals if he had enough force to break that mounting area.
