Brand new 306 10.1 compression yada yada yada. Set the timeing to 10 Degrees, spark gap is at .050", running 93 octane. The car has no low RPM torque, absolutoly nothing, it takes forever to get up to 50 MPH even at 3/4 Throttle. Could an exhuast leak where the header meets the cylinder head and at the header collector cuase the engine to have no torque???? Becuase I have a noticeable leak at the collector and a few small ones at the cylinder head. Im also useing copper header gaskets. Would this cuase the engines torque output to suck????

I also have 3:55 rear gears and a tremec TKO 600 with .64 overdrive if your wondering what kind of gearing i have! My stock 5.0 had more torque than this new 306 so something is F!@#ed up. The higher lift cam with less duration isn't the culprit or the the alum gt40 heads becase I have read several articles about the combo im running and it produced about 350 crank HP and around 340 crank torque.

First - leaks are no good no matter what the power level is. Get them straightened out. It will not cause the situation you describe IMO. It may contribute, but it's not the sole cause.

10 degrees is no where near enough timing. I run 12 on my stock 302 with 87 octane gas. You will probable need 14-16.

I'd fix the leaks and then start to figure out how much timing is the right ammount of timing for your setup.

maybe the gap is a bit too much, i gap mine at .044 i believe with autolite 24s on about 10:1 with tfs heads and gt40 intake and comp cams

Also, like everyone said your timing is a bit low.Bout 14-16* is what I would run.
