im not running any cats and my car smells very rich, especially when its cold but if i try to turn the fuel pressure down the car becomes a dog in the top end and if i turn the fp up a lil itll make it pull harder but it will smell overwhelmingly rich. also im getting like 11 mpg and im not a lead foot either. my setup is pretty common

twisted wedge heads
76mm mass air, a9l
stage 1 cam
street heat intake
cold air intake, pulleys
24 pound injectors.

my fp is at 40 pounds vac off and im totally confused on what to do. i try to lean it out, it becomes a dog (WONT RUN ANY HOTTER EITHER) try to richen it up and it runs like a pig but pulls better in 3rd.

thanks for any help, i know its kind of broad.

p.s everything has less than 6 months on it, spark plugs, plug wires etc

have you pulled codes? you may have an underlying problem, which is exacerbating your situation. i would really concentrate on the ECT, ACT and O2's.

even if you dont spit any codes, test them with a DMM against values in Probst, etc (i dont have one or i would give you numbers)....lets say the ECT is telling the puter that the car is cold and to run rich. well the puter reads the sensors, but does not know what is really goin on in actuality. so the sensor may be within spec, but is incorrect for the situation (i.e. it is saying the motor is cold, when it is running at 190)....

good luck.

When you get it straight let me know I have the same problem. Only difference in our set up are the heads. I have GT 40 heads for now. Mine also likes to surge when its cold, but as soon as its warm it is fine.
